This tutorial will cover how you upload and manage your photos for property owners advertising on Vacation Realty. Due to our changing policies photos are now required to keep your listing active in our network. Recently we have contacted many owners who have failed to upload photos. If you are an owner and have difficulty uploading photos this is a must read. We will cover the photo types we accept, the method in which you upload photos (including visual references).

Photo ManagementPhoto Management : To upload photos to your account you must be a registered user and have atleast 1 active property in our network. If you have not registered please register here and list your property before continuing with this tutorial. Once you have completed the registration process and received an email with your user name and password please use the owner login and login to your account. This will enable you secure online access to manage, upload and edit photos for an unlimited number of properties. We have made managing photos a breeze with our ajax user interface!

Photo UploadUploading Photos : You are now logged into your account and presented with a number of different icons. Each icon visually references different editing features. On the right column you will see an icon named “Manage Photos”. Once you click this icon you will be presented with an upload screen as see in the picture to your left on this screen. Click the browse button to locate the photo you intend to upload. Once you have selected the photo for upload click the orange button “Upload Photo”. Assuming your photo is below the maximum file size and is the acceptable format (Gif, Png, Jpg) your photo will be uploaded and you will be presented with a conformation of this upload.

Drag PhotosArranging Photos : Once you have continued the process above and completed uploading your maximum allowed number of photos its time to arrange them in the order and preference in which you would like them displayed on your property description page. The visual reference shown on the left of this screen is a capture taken from a user dragging and dropping the photos in the order in which they will be displayed. By clicking on the photo and holding down your mouse button this enables you to drag the photos up or down. Dragging photos higher in your list makes the photo being dragged the first photo to be seen. This photo will be in our search results pages and also the first photo listed on your property description page.

Photo CaptionsPhoto Captions : Once your photos have been uploaded and arranged in the order of preference you may add photo captions. Photo captions are brief descriptions of the actual photo that travelers will be viewing on your property description page. Once the travler enters your online photo gallery the caption will be placed beneath your image. The caption gives travelers a good indication of what picture they are looking at and what to visually expect when booking your property. To add a caption to your photo simply click the orange button next to the photo labeled “Edit Caption”. Once this is clicked a script prompt will ask you to enter details regarding this particular photo. The details can be up to 150 characters in length. It is not neccessary to write a long description for photos. We recommend to keep it short and to the point.

Deleting PhotosDeleting Photos : You may delete or replace photos at any time. Keep in mind you must first delete a photo in order to replace it with another if the maximum number of photos has been reached. To delete a photo in your photo gallery simply click the orange button labeled “Delete”. This will instantly delete the photo and remove it from your account and property description page. Keep in mind you can save the photo before deleting by clicking the view option. If you do plan to replace the photo simply follow the step above “Uploading Photos” to replace the photos that have been deleted. Each photo uploaded will be appended to the last photo in your list. You may however drag the photos and arrange the new photos in the order mentioned in “Arranging Photos” above.
